Introduction

My name is Tom. By day I am a Network Engineer, but by night I am an electronics hobbyist.

I have a particular interest in retro CPUs, but not so much retro computer systems. *looks at IBM XT sitting on near-by desk*

For my projects I like to design hardware, and also to write a bit of software - mostly in the embedded space. I have completed projects that are of both retro and modern eras. A couple of my more prominent projects are:

Discrete transistor NOR logic clock

Triple time zone Z80 clock

I'll try to keep this page updated with projects that I work on over time.

Works in progress

An ongoing project to design a computer system around a Motorola 68000 CPU

Multi-function card for IBM PCs and compatibles

Reverse engineering of another Cisco router containing a PowerPC CPU

The above projects are not yet documented to any great extent publicly.

Other projects

A couple of reverse engineering projects involving old Cisco routers featuring Motorola 680×0 or similar class CPUs (attempted to get FreeRTOS+TCP running with varying levels of success)

Cisco 2500 series - Motorola 68EC030

Cisco 1600R series - Motorola 68EN360 (CPU32
